HQ Percussion

HQ Percussion's roots go back as far as the early 80's when Rob Birenbaum, founder of Drum Headquarters in St. Louis, met Long Island drummer, Dom Famularo. Famularo used Powerplay Practice Pads which are pads modeled after the electronic drum pads of the era in his practice and lesson studio. Birenbaum incorporated this design into his pads and they took off. The mutes and pads manufactured by Drum Headquarters gained popularity as the materials and technique were refined. The name was changed to HQ Percussion and when the demand out weighted the capability of HQ, Birenbaum found a buyer in D'Addario who would apply the same level of quality to the products as HQ.
