This thing is a BEAST. Loud as anything, with a flat edge and a raised edge on the two open sides, so you can get a full traditional sound or a higher, more articulate sound. The side and far back tones are loud and distinct as well, so this works as a bongo bell. Overall I find most high-end bells are brighter and more piercing than this is, so this could be an alternative to that. I find it actually blends better with drum set, congas, shakers, cymbals, etc than $30+ signature lines. I love it.
