"This book is all about using paradiddles in various ways to build technique and speed. It contains a wide variety of exercises and solos and is well sequenced. There is a good balance between innovative and challenging exercises, and creative solos that apply each new concept. Even though the text deals only with paradiddles, there is much variety, and students who practice this material will gain much in general technique. There are speed exercises with fill-in charts to document progress over time. There are exercises using paradiddles with various accent patterns and double strokes. There are exercises for the drumset. The 17 solos and duets scattered throughout the book serve as applications of the various exercises. This creative book would make a good supplemental text for any percussion curriculum. The paradiddle is a foundational sticking pattern and this workbook testifies to its adaptability and usefulness." - (by permission) Percussive Arts Society, Inc. 32 E.
