For thousands of years, the Chinese have believed that all, living and non-living, contain a certain energy, or life force, called chi. Feng shui (pronounced "fung shway") is the ancient Chinese art of promoting health and happiness by harnessing positive chi from our surroundings. According to the principles of feng shui, the arrangement of objects within a room, the energy produced by certain sounds, and the presence of light, water, and plants help create a harmonious space that benefits all who inhabit it.
The gong originated in Southeast Asia more than a millennium ago. Over the centuries, it has played a prominent role in the temple and classical music of China, in the Buddhist ceremonies of Japan, and in the ceremonial gamelan music of Indonesia. In some cultures gongs are struck to announce significant events, such as the arrival of royalty or the declaration of war. In others, gongs are believed to hold supernatural powers - to heal the sick, attract the wind, or ward off storms. Though gongs vary in size, shape, and pitch depending on their country of origin, their resonant tones have come to be universally associated with majesty and reverence. Gongs also play a special role in feng shui. It is believed that to strike a gong before a meal is to summon purifying chi to the home and bring good luck to those sharing the meal.
Create a new harmony and enjoy an auspicious energy in your home with the LP Music Collection Feng Shui Dinner Gong.
