Guess what I will be working on for a long time!

Comments:

I ordered this book after learning about it at a clinic by Tracy Wiggans at the University of North Alabama. I plan on working on it on drum set for myself to get going, and then using it with the single drum pad and sticks as described in the book. I hope to introduce it to students. This is a great concept and can easily be applied to many set ups and styles. It is one of those books where you will always be working and can find something directly applicable to your situation. I also ordered Casey Cangelosi's "Technical Timing" at the same time, and for the same reasons. I highly recommend these books to every percussionist.

An indispensable tool for all musicians

Comments:

This book is an excellent tool for solidifying and expanding one's ability and familiarity with rhythm. Do not be misled by the subtitle "for the percussionist," this book is an indispensable resource for all musicians, be they instrumentalists, conductors, or composers. The exercises are clear and their usefulness is immediately apparent. Particularly helpful is the fact that even the most complicated of exercises is designed to be accompanied by a metronome, regardless of the regularity of the beats in each measure; this is invaluable for being able to maintain a steady pulse through metre changes and complex rhythmic relationships. Overall, this is a well planned, comprehensive, and systematic approach to improving one's rhythm that would be useful for any and all musicians.
