Bulgarian folk music, which has been repeatedly covered, supplemented and expanded by foreign influences over the centuries, is rich in irregular rhythmic and metric parameters. The frequently changing cycle sequences, due to an unusual connection and stretching of individual cycle times, are also the basis of the present work. Siegfried Fink wrote "Salut de Serdika" as a compulsory piece for the "Siegfried Fink" Sofia 97 competition.
