Propositions III is a work for extremely large percussion ensemble. Bayer bends time with this composition by have players playing their parts at different tempos. In the closing section of the piece on player plays consistent time with a metronome while the rest of the ensemble accelerates away from the consistent time. This piece will require long preparatory period to master the sections where tempo is variable between players.
