Rudimental drumming is an important facet of any drummer's training. It is the backbone for virtually all of today's contemporary percussive techniques. This video clearly demonstrates all 40 of the Percussive Arts Society's International Drum Rudiments. It begins with the "seven essential rudiments" (single-stroke roll, multiple-bounce roll, double-stroke roll, single paradiddle, flam, drag) and then expands to the more advanced rudiments. Each rudiment is performed in the traditional manner - open (slow) to closed (fast) to open. Students will find this video to be an ideal way to visually and aurally learn and review proper sticking, hand position, dynamics, and standard rudimental playing techniques, before incorrect habits are formed. Percussion teachers, band directors and drum corps section leaders will find it to be an invaluable reference tool as well. Rob Carson provides an accurate and commanding performance in a relaxed studio setting.
