Description

The IAT 0798DM Medium Gourd Huiro (or Guiro) measures approx 9 to 12" in total length and has a diameter of approx 3 to 4"......due to the natural aspect of these instruments, measurements vary slightly. This authentic Huiro is made of a natural gourd with grooves cut into the top and finger holes in the bottom. A metal scraper is included with this Huiro.

This is not a professional percussion instrument. This is at best a toy souvenir. The playing space is about 6" only, and the grooves are way too shallow to produce a good guiro sound. The stick basically glides over giving you a dragging sound rather than the bite of a guiro. Not sure why this is sold on a percussion specialist website.

This gourd guiro is light weight with nice carving and colors on the outside and has a really loud, bright sound. I would recommend it!
