Carvin-Drum Concerto at Dawn (CD) - Product Information

Playing the drums whisper-quietly while maintaining a clean sound and a swinging pulse is remarkably hard to do. Michael Carvin is one of the few drummers in jazz who plays a true ppp pianissimo to enhance his expressiveness. To experience the full emotion of his music, you will need to listen in a quiet environment, quiet enough to hear Michael portray a heart slowly stop beating or a temple bell fading into utter silence.
As a tribute to Michael's art, this CD attempts to record exactly what he played: no overdubs, no edits, no re-sequencing, no fadeouts and, above all, no electronic compression of Carvin's extraordinary dynamic range.
