Description
Aurora Borealis by John Thrower is dedicated to Katarzyna Mycka and a recording can be found on her CD Marimba Dance.
The work is based on the "northern lights" phenomenon that occurs from the reflection of sunlight on atmospheric dust particles generally seen in the dark evening hours of countries in the northern hemisphere.
In 2 parts - "Starry Night" and "Light Waves"
Number of players - 4 (1 soloist + 3 percusson)

Marimba Solo 4 mallets, 5.0 octave),
Percussion 1 - Metal chimes, glass chimes, wood chimes, temple blocks, bongos, congas, chocolo, suspended cymbal, glockenspiel
Percussion 2 - Vibraphone, triangles (2), crotales (2), suspended cymbal
Percussion 3 - Timpani (2), bass drum, amboss (or three high pitched metal plates/tubes), gongs (2, G1 medium sized, G2 large size, if possible "Wind Gong"), tom-toms (2), Boof
