Comments:

I needed this unusual instrument in a hurry. This was the only place I could find that had what I was looking for In pristine condition. It arrived two days earlier than estimated and was in beautiful condition!

Donkey Jaw

Comments:

Unfortunately, the donkey jaw broke within 5 minutes of using it. It sounded alright while it lasted, but it wasn't nearly as loud or dramatic as a vibraslap. After it broke, in fact, I ordered a vibraslap, which is much better as an instrument. It isn't as dramatic, but $50. for a 5 minute life is pretty pricey. I recommend controlling your enthusiasm for the real donkey jaw and upgrading to the modern version.

Quijada -- donkey Jaw bone

Comments:

Arrived promptly and is in excellent shape. Reasonably priced. Very difficult to bring these personally from Latin America since customs questions animal bones. In addition, the quijadas one finds in Peru sometimes come from older donkeys that are missing teeth and do not look or sound as nice. The one we received from Steve Weiss has all of its teeth and is nicely bleached. Sounds great. Our community ensemble does lots of presentations for schools and this showy instrument is sure to be a hit with the kids!

Old School Vibra Slap

Comments:

Love my donkey jaw, and so does everyone else. Has a very nice unique sound, and is quite the visual hand percussion instrument. The traditional way of playing it , by sliding a stick on the teeth and hitting the jaw in various rhythms makes for a very expressive instrument which you can fit into more songs that you might initially think. Everybody wants to try it, and are always blown away to find out it is what LP based the Vibra-Slap on. Great conversation piece. Don't leave it lying around the house if you have dogs.
