The Innovative Percussion AA15 Anders Åstrand Extra Soft Mallets are an extra soft mallet that sounds great on extended range vibraphones and bass marimbas. Designed for mallet specialist Anders Åstrand of the Global Percussion Network.
The Anders Åstrand Models feature hard rubber mushroom shaped cores to create a full rich tone and warm fundamental and multi-ply cord for strength and durability, on our high quality, extra durable rattan handles.
Anders Åstrand: Percussion artist and composer. A mallet specialist, Åstrand regularly performs recitals and clinics throughout the U.S., Europe, and Australia, both as a soloist and with his ensemble Global Percussion Network. In his compositions, Anders Åstrand focuses on improvisation as an essential feature for soloists as well as the ensemble. Anders Åstrand is a member of several groups including the trio Engebretson/Fancher/Åstrand, playing both composed music and free improvisations, a duo with organist Mattias Wager using free improvisation as the means to create musical experiments without limits, the Like One trio using free improvisation as the means to create an entire concert, mixing jazz, flamenco, contemporary music, as well as other styles, and Cashew with Michael Gould (drums), Miles Osland (saxophone), Greg Laman (computer), Chris Peck (computer), Michael Berglund (bass), and Anders Åstrand (vibraphone and marimba) featuring free improvised groove-oriented music. Anders Åstrand has been a member of the Board of Directors for PAS since 2002 and Chapter President of the Swedish PAS.
