LP Angled Surface Cajon - Product Information

The LP1433 Angled Surface Cajon is made of wood ply with Burl playing surface and has snares inside. It features a textured seat surface and maesures 19" tall by 12" width. The depth of the top is 12" and bottom is 17". The top corners can be loosened to adjust the "slap" feature of the instrument.

The Cajon has become extremely popular and for good reason. The square-ish box offers delightful tones, sometimes muted and sometimes open, which simulate everything from bongos to tumbas to snare drums, when played with hand slaps, deep palm "dooms" and sizzling finger staccato patterns. The cajon looks for the all the world like a humble box but it has become so much more.

The Cajon can be incorporated into a variety of set ups-even doubling as a drummer's throne! The LP Cajon is an ideal and popular add-on.

The most practical cajon I've ever played

Comments:

First off, let me say that this is a great sounding cajon. I'm not a fan of a lot of LP's cajons, but this one knocks it out of the park. The snare sound is crisp, the rivets, if you give them some leeway, give it a great washy sound (though I prefer to keep those rivets screwed in as tightly as humanly possible for a tighter sound). I also have a Fat Cajon, and while those are supposed to be the bees knees, it usually just sits in the house and gets used only for practice. This guy, on the other hand, goes out with me on every gig, and at this point, it looks good and weathered. But what really makes me love this cajon is its size, and, the angle. My ginormous posterior is an issue on smaller cajons (I'm pointing at you, Meinl), but this one is the perfect size. And the angle allows me to change pitch at will with ease. Whoever designed this bad boy was thinking forward, and I can't thank them enough for it. Now, the $90 bag that you really will need to buy if you use this thing regularly? THAT'S a rip off. But the cajon absolutely rocks.
