It may not be P.C. but I prefer a plastic samba whistle over a metal one. Easier on the lip. The LP Aspire Tri-tone whistle is a solid and inexpensive. Works fine for my limited use, basically to add color and festivity to certain songs. I previously used the metal Acme samba whistle which was three times the price with half the tone.
Always keep one handy for music signals, breaks, drama. I prefer plastic to metal, because you can safely hold it in your teeth and play it without Hands when soloing or ripping it up in general.
Cheap, sounds good and easy to play. Recommended.
