I bought this drum several years ago during a snare drum sale from another wholesale establishment. I've got many concert field drums (some old school Ludwig, and the newer Pearl (14"/16"), GMS, and now two of the Majestic). I was using this during a Broadway touring show (Motown, the Musical) and the other percussionist was really enthralled with the sound of this drum. I wasn't as stoked (being right on top of it) but I had the other player play on it while I stood back and listened. It IS a really good sounding field drum. I'm a little skeptical of the amount of hardware on the shell (my FAVORITE field drum is a GMS that has a stained tung oil finish, and very minimal hardware which I think lets the shell resonate more) but this has a lot more control of the snare material engaged on the snareside head. It's a great sounding concert field drum.
