Marimba One Double Helix DHB6 Soft Birch Mallets - Product Information

The Double Helix Series was developed to bring out the warmth of the fundamental throughout the range of the 5-octave marimba. The relaxed yarn tension on these mallets enhances the smooth, dark attack of the mallet.

The exclusive patent pending "double helix wrap" technique allows you to easily identify each mallet in the series. Two strands of yarn are wrapped independently of each other, creating a woven effect. After one of the strands makes a revolution around the mallet head, the other strand makes a revolution, securing the previous strand. This locks the yarn in place and prevents it from unraveling. This unique method of wrapping provides our mallets with their distinct look, and exceptional sound.

Outstanding Bass Marimba Mallets

Comments:

Bought these to have some low octave marimba mallets and I couldn't be more satisfied. These mallets a every comfortable and have an amazing sound on the lower octave of my 5 octave Yamaha rosewood marimba. Love these mallets.

Buyer's Remorse!

Comments:

The other guy says it well: between a soft and medium soft. I have the entire Double Helix Series, and I don't like it. The series has little dynamic contrast. For example, the 2s and the 1s sound aaaaalmost exactly the same. I feel like I could close my eyes and not know which was which. Same thing with the 5's and 6's. Boo... go with something like the Kevin Bobo Series or the Leigh Howard Stevens series. The only plus with these mallets for me was: they look cool, the shaft is nice and long, and the shaft has a dry wood, good for gripping.

Marimba One Mallets

Comments:

I bought the lower four mallets in the line because of the very appetizing buy 2 get 2 free special. This mallet is a bit too articulate to really be considered a soft mallet. It's right between a soft and medium soft to me. For more articulate playing the bottom four mallets in this line seem to be all one could ever need but if you're looking for the soft marimba sound these aren't the right mallets.
