The instrument is fine, but the vinyl material covering the shell was not properly adhered at the underside (inside) of the instrument. The material is loose and partially covers the bottom opening, which can affect the sound. I can probably fix it, so I won't try to return the instrument. I have had great success with other Meinl instruments, so this sloppiness was disappointing.
Sounded amazing right out of the box! Stinging highs, and quite a lot of depth on the low pitch. This is being used in a 100+ - member concert band, and there's NO PROBLEM hearing it!
