Meinl Tunable Tar with True Feel Synthetic Head - Product Information

The Meinl Percussion Tar features True Feel synthetic heads. The lightly textured surface is both attractive and comfortable to play in any technique or style. True Feel heads are not reactive to moisture, so that assures a consistent tuning in all conditions. The tones are warm and bright, without excessive high frequency. Meinl Tunable Tar

Comments:

It seems well constructed in most ways that are important. I like the feel of the head, and the bearing edge makes it comfortable to play in a variety of playing styles. However, the tuning system needs some upgrading as it does not hold the tuning well and shifts to a lower pitch fairly quickly. I've had the drum a couple of weeks so I'm hoping it will adapt to the very dry high desert climate of AZ and hold the pitch that I tune it to. But these climate conditions would normally tend to make a drum (or any instrument) shift to a higher pitch - not lower. We'll see . . .
