Why XL?
This mallet's overall length is 15 1/8", which is 1" longer then the standard Balter 9B. Due to an overwhelming customer demand, we have select Balter mallets custom made with 1" longer on some models, where the majority of our customers request it.

very nice mallets

Comments: It has been awhile since I have played any mallets and I have a beginning student that is interested in pursuing the subject. I obtained a student bell set and unfortunately, they didn't come with mallets. I thought the quality of the balter mallets is very good for the price. For my use, I should have just gotten the regular length, however. The mallet has a little too much heft for my use, but produces a good tone from the instrument.
