This is a really great set of maracas for less-experienced players because the rattle is very easy to control and it's very durable. (The cushioned grips are very comfortable as well!) You don't get a lot of the "echo" or delayed effect as you might get from a set with inner beads, so I definitely recommend this for school use. It has a very clean, dry sound and cuts through an orchestra and jazz band well. If you're looking for more of the deeper, resonant, rawhide sound, this isn't the set for you.
