Remo Choro Pandeiro - Product Information

The Remo Choro Pandeiro is ideal for playing traditional Brasilian Sambas and Chorinhos, as well as popular modern rhythms like Samba Funk and Samba Reggae.

The Remo Choro Pandeiro is designed for today's modern playing techniques, is light weight and features a four combo set of jingles. Remo introduces the unique "Sizzle Zil" jingle design. The Sizzle Zil design combines, two copper and one German silver convex jingles with a flat stainless steel chrome plated disc sitting in between. Adding the Sizzle to the Zil are the sound apertures located around the copper jingle perimeter. This lightens the pandeiros overall weight and projects the sound of the German silver jingle enabling pure, fast articulated beats which allow the drumhead tones to resonate freely.

The Choro Pandeiro is constructed with a replaceable Skyndeep® graphic drumhead with Ultratac. This new development in Remo's drumhead technologies offers enhanced sound with an attractive look. The Skyndeep with Ultratac adds a unique animal-like texture on the drumhead surface that produces low bass notes while adding pliability, making it easy to bend and modulate the pitch. Also featured on this drumhead is Remo's O ring with adhesive that reduces overtones and increases warm bass tones.

The drum shell is made with Acousticon®, 100% recycled wood fiber, and is elegantly finished with stained antique wood grain veneer. The Choro Pandeiro is specifically designed for low pitch tensioning and is not recommended to over tighten the replaceable drumhead. With proper care and maintenance you will enjoy continuous playing with

Remo's Choro Pandeiro weighting only 540 grams, which is far lighter then any other similar model in the market today.

Good, not Great, Pandeiro

Comments:

As a pro level pandeirista, I rate the Remo choro pandeiro w Skyndeep/Ultratac a solid 3.5. It is a pro level pandeiro, with a very good deep tone coming from the THICK synthetic head. But because the head is thick AND SYNTHETIC, it is very monochromatic-not much, if any, pitch bending or nuance in that regard. The pandeiro has a very nice shell finish, though composite "wood", and is on the HEAVY side of the scale. The platinelas are lightweight brass, very nice light tone-again, fairly monochromatic. The Ultratac is pretty scratchy on the fingers to begin with but then rubs/smears with use and hence becomes smooth/slippery, defeating the purpose of ease of rolls. It's sort of a niche pandeiro and I would say buy it, especially if you dont have access to a good handmade(Bira, Pizzott, etc) pandeiro. GOPE, actually, makes the best, by far, mass produced pandeiro. But the Remo holds it's own pretty well.

Bought this after watching the video, and because it sounded fantastic! In person, easy to play although I would tension it low for best results. Well worth it!

um....WOW!

Comments:

This is the beast pandiero I have ever played. It plays better than even other contemporanea pandieros I have played. You are looking for an awesome, yet cheap pandiero that is 100% quality, this is it. The head is awesome too, feels like real animal hide. The patented jingles are the best jingles I have ever heard as well. If you want a pandiero, I highly recommend this one.

Amazing!

Comments:

I love how this pandeiro sounds! The jingles on here are very tight, which means an incredibly crisp samba. The head keeps a consistent pitch since it's plastic, but it doesn't sound like plastic (as long as you don't hit it too hard). The only thing I can see wrong with this is the finish on the wood is chipped off in one place already. Other then that, this has become my workhorse pandeiro!
