Price-Suckerpunch! (SP)-4-5T/P

Suckerpunch! by William Price for percussion septet. This piece was inspired by the infamour after-concert rants of big band drummer Buddy Rich. It begins as one expects, loud and brash. The work is divided into four main parts, which are delineated by extreme changes in texture, timbre, and time: Suckerpunch/You're Not My Kind of People - All I Hear Is Noise - You Gotta Long Way to Go" - Suckerpunch Reprise/Other Ways to Settle It.

Player 1 - tam tam (shared with Player 5), five temple blocks, slapstick, 2 cowbells, triangle, small conga, small timbale, concert snare, 3 brake drums, ride cymbal, 2 crash cymbals

Player 2 - tam tam, vibraslap, bongos, triangle, ride cymbal, crash cymbals, police whistle

Player 3 - 2 snare drums, marching snare, 2 small woodblocks, ride cymbal, crash cymbal, police whistle

Player 4 - hi-hat, 2 ride cymbals, 2 crash cymbals, China cymbal, 2 cowbells, triangle, mounted bass drum, kick bass drum, 2 tom toms, floor tom, snare drum

Player 5 - 3 brake drums, 4 cowbells, ride cymbal, 2 crash cymbals, finger cymbals, tam tam, slapstick, temple block, snare drum, bongo, police whistle

Player 6 - 5 tom toms, mounted bass drum, triangle, 2 crash cymbals

Player 7 - concert bass, timpani, roto-tom, cowbells, crash cymbals, triangle
