Tama Silver Armor Marching Bass Drum Carrier - Product Information

The Tama CSABDT Silver Armor Bass Drum Carrier provides the maximum in adjustability, comfort, and durability. Silver Armor Carriers have adjustable height, adjustable shoulder pipes, and adjustable back support. The shoulder and back pads can self-rotate to fit the contour of any size player. Each carrier can be quickly customized for the individual player with a standard tuning key. High quality belly and shoulder pads are easily removed for machine washing. This carrier is equipped with a dual locking system, this allows your bass drum to be safely locked to the carrier to ensure confidence during the most demanding physical motion.

  • Safety Lock Mount - All Silver Armor Carriers feature a Safety Lock Mounting System which can safely lock any drum in place by activating the black locking tabs.
  • Positioning Bar - By connecting two J-Bars with the Positioning Bar, the distance between both J-Bars are consistent and allows for easy adjustment of the horizontal and vertical positioning of the drums.
  • Belly Pad - The detachable belly pad incorporates a wide contact area to disperse the pressure around the belly.
  • Drum Lift Bumper - The drum lift bumper prevents the drums from being damaged by hitting the carrier when tilting up. No more scratches or chipped hoops.

should be good, but...

Comments:

The designs on TAMA marching drums and hardware are clever but just way overdone. The stands are so complicated to set up that they are nearly useless, and the tenor stands in particular just keep breaking. On the carriers, the parts at the adjustment points that make these carriers versatile are just fragile. We have a graveyard of half-harnesses because the hinge at the shoulder is broken. The bracket that connects the J-rods to the belly plate is also garbage. In both cases, the metal is just too soft to withstand the abuse that marching equipment is destined to face. Sometimes threads strip out where mounting bolts go, but mostly, the brackets and hinges themselves just shear off; there's nothing to be done about it except buy replacement parts. Is there ANY brand of marching equipment for which this is not true? I think the answer to that is NO, so maybe it doesn't matter. These are probably the best carrier designs on the market, really, even though they are crap.
