A softer yarn allows a legato tone, while a heavy plastic core offers timber/color changes at higher grip tension and faster stroke velocity. Designed to be used in combinations these mallets were designed to work together. A popular combination includes one 11 as a low range mallet, with three 14's for the middle and upper range of the marimba.
