Great sticks for light playing

I do a lot of musical theatre and accompanying singers in live settings. The small bead tips on these sticks give me the ability to accurately control my dynamics in order to not overpower in a live setting. I used to love the VF Peter Erskine sticks but the tips would always break apart and then the sticks were trash. These are the EXACT same dimensions but Vater just has better quality. I don't know if it's the wood, the lathes, or the lacquer but these are my go-to sticks now. These are a must for any drummer who's been told to play quieter ;-)

Currently my favorite sticks. Sweet rides offer more dynamic capabilities than any other stick i've used. They feel thin at first but after a while become very comfortable. One major positive I've noticed is that I'm able to articulate sounds on drumset that more closely resemble what I'm hearing in my head. Great for all playing styles.

These are my go-to sticks for jazz when I am playing drum set. The small round beads provide excellent cymbal tone while keeping excess ring to a minimum. They can turn any ride into a dry cymbal. Also, I've found that they work well for the opening passage of Lt. Kije, although the small beads are a little thin. Overall, they are a great addition to a set player's bag.
