Produces a nice roll on big drums. Sounds really full and you get a lot less articulation from individual strokes.

Good value, good feel, excellent sound

I am not a full time timpanist, these days I probably only play timps on 5 or 6 gigs a year, plus related performances. About a year ago I found that my older mallets were getting a bit thin and needed recovering. I decided to give a couple pair of the GEN 1 mallets a try. I love them! As the title says good, value, very good feel for me (I know that is personal, excellent tonal quality.)

i think that this pair of timpani mallets was maybe the best purchase I have made (so far). These mallets have a very nice weight to them. The sound quality they made was better than what i thought it was going to be. In seeing this, I purchased basically the whole Tim Genis Timpani Mallet selection. I personally think that these mallets are better than the Vic Firth American Custom Timpani Mallets.
