Vic Firth Kidphones Headphones - Product Information

Vic Firth Kidphones Headphones are non-electric headphones that are specially sized for children and reduce overall noise levels by 22 decibels. From the start, caring for kids' hearing is important!

Prolonged exposure to excessive levels of noise can have traumatic and lasting effects, including hearing fatigue, tinnitus and permanent hearing loss. These headphones drastically reduce levels of external sound reaching a musician's ears, offering valuable protection from potential damage.

My son is 4 years old and he often does not like to wear anything on his head. He will wear these everytime he plays his drums, they seem to be very comfortable for him.

An initial step in the right direction

Comments:

This is a difficult item to rate for several reasons. I would rate it a 5 on the concept of providing hearing protection for children ears. We have a set for our three year old who has been using them for a year. I rate them a five because he seems to hear us okay when we speak to him and he is wearing the headset; yes, I know that they are tuned to a high frequency. Since the adjustment band is customized for a child, I nor my wife can place them over our head in order to determine just how much sound is reduced. For the fit on a child's head, I rate them a five. The summary is: the headset looks great, it fits well on a child heads, it properly encloses the entire ear, and it appears to reduce the sound volume to the child's ear, but because of the adjustment's band fitting for a child head an adult cannot actually perform a listening test with the headset.
