Vic Firth Gifford Howarth Marimba Mallets - Multi-tone - Product Information

Vic Firth M164 Gifford Howarth Marimba Mallets provide sharp clarity in the highest range of the instrument without a harsh "core attack" sound in the lower range. Great for much of the contemporary literature. "Multi-tone". Hard to medium.

An active recitalist, clinician and master class teacher, Gifford Howarth designed his line of marimba mallets to create the highest quality of sound for the recital hall or within an ensemble. Each model allows the specific characteristics of each range to shine through - a deep full bass, a full sounding mid-range and a cutting high end. With long lasting yarn for durability and clear, unfinished birch shafts for a natural feel.

Great price

Comments:

This is a very nice and inexpensive mallet. Sounds great in the top four octaves.

Yes!

Comments:

These mallets sound fantastic on marimba. Very little contact sound, and yet they are multitone so they sound good really low, and really high. I own several pairs of these, and they are easily my favorite mallet to use for repertoire. The shafts are a bit longer than some of its competitors, and I feel like it's the perfect length for marimba! Makes octave spreads a bit easier. These mallets rival the "top dogs" such as marimba one, except the howarths are at a much more affordable price. Don't get me wrong. I fancy marimba one mallets as well, but the Howarths are in my opinion 5 stars , highly recommended.
