Very cool innovation and you can defiantly feel the differences. However, I use my brushes almost everyday and I tend to be harder on them than most people (what can I say, I like rimflexes) and they haven't really held up to that. So, if you're more of a buy-one-pair-of brushes-and-stick-to-them kind of guy, then you might want to invest into something a little bit more sturdier.

V.F. Russ Miller Signature Brushes / Excellent!

Comments:

I was searching for a new brush after all these years. So I picked up a pair of Vic Firth Jazz Brush. This pair felt really good, had a bit more weight than previous models. The fan could be adjusted to whatever spread desired from very thin to very wide. I also tried the Split Brush. A nice concept and I'll keep it in my bag for "specialty" sounds. But a tad too long for my taste. I then tried a pair of the Russ Miller Signature Brushes. Wow! For me, this is the pair I went with. I love the feel of this model. The black rubber feels great. Plus it allows for some "quirky" sticking if one care to roll the brush along the drum and rim creating a "windmill buzz effect" for the lack of better term. This brush also allows me to get the most rebound from the drums. For me, executing double strokes, 6 stroke rolls, flam accents etc. at a faster pace seems effortless. I have several pairs of this brush in a few of my bags. It may or may not be the choice for everyone, but if you're looking for an all around pair of brushes, I would certainly recommend checking these out. As usual, Vic Firth continues to be the leader in our industry producing the best sticks, brushes and mallets available. But that's just my humble opinion. Good luck on your choice.
