The Rute sticks perform very well. The build quality is excellent. Have used them several times already. Very happy with them.

I needed something that would play medium soft but I would still do rim knocks for a musical. These worked wonderfully. Crisp knock but light on cymbals and drums. Highly recommend.

Nice!

These are a refreshing option in the Cool/Hot Rod-dowel based bundle-stick realm. Well-balanced, and relatively light-weight. If they've caught your eye, get a pair. I think they are just as cool as you think they might be! Oh yeah, and they sound just fine.

These were perfect, until...

...VF decided to change the flexible plastic collar (still pictured) to a rubber band. Comprised of 16, 1/16" inch dowels with a nice sleeve for a handle which feels similar to a stick finish, these were ideal for softer passages where brushes or mallets didn't have enough attack, but dreadlocks or rakes were too abrasive. No doubt VF changed the collar to a rubber band because it was cheaper to manufacture, but the collar never moved during use, while the rubber band not only moves, but prevented too much flex in the dowels making the Rute last longer. It's doubtful VF went with a cheaper dowel tension device so they would break faster resulting in more sales, but it's the factual result. Regardless, these are way better than hot rods or any other similar dowel-based implement.
