The drum arrived yesterday afternoon in great shape. It sounds fantastic in my music room. I gave it a try in the pit last evening and it sounded good there....not too high pitched for pit work even though it is a concert snare. I can't wait to try it out in the other locations where I will use it i.e. horrible band room, outdoors on the grass, dilapidated band shells, and, oh yes, concert halls, etc.. It plays really easily. I definitely do not have to beat it to death - which is great because due to my "advanced" age I'm mostly a finesse player. (HA!)
