I got this model barely used like new in the case. The wood is beautiful, built like a guitar with a wood frame shell and a ash ply face plate. nice rubber feet and a top pad for mallet playing. The built in snare is a device like a brush that can be engaged and disengaged at will. It has a full body low end bass sound and when struck near a corner a snapping snare with sizzle. I plan to use it at the jam session when drummers are not around and at the camp site with fellow guitar players. You could buy a $4.00 plastic pail at Sherwin Williams and get some what of an idea what poor man's cajon is like. This is an instrument worth its money, well constructed, and has good stage presence.
