I've owned this drum for a year and a half now. I bought it at PASIC '05 and have had nothing but wonderful results with this fine instrument. I use Evans Strata Staccato 700 and Evans Orchestral 200 side heads. I get snare response at the slightest touch of the head and don't have to worry about ridiculous and unnecessary snare buzzing. The balance of the Triad Strainer provides plenty of sound and doesn't choke the side head. The tone is dark and warm yet it has plenty of attack when needed. This is a wonderful instrument and a great investment for any serious percussionist.
