The loops on it are so that you can hook in onto your instrument. You have to just lift up the keys and putt the loops on the base inbetween the keys and the base and sucure the keys back on
A beginning percussionist has inadequate experience to have an opinion yet about quality and sound preferences, so choosing mallets from all the choices was almost overwhelming. This packet, combined with the snare sticks and marimba mallets we had already purchased individually, rounded out our immediate needs for a full range of concert percussion mallets--and a handy case for it all! The case is about the size of a standard briefcase--it's a mallet gig-bag with handles. There are hanging loops inside and some external clips we haven't figured out the use for yet (no explanation provided with the bag). I thought the price was very reasonable for this many tools.
