Ludwig Drums

William F. & Theobald Ludwig founded the Ludwig drum company in 1909 with the production of the first Ludwig Bass Drum Pedal. A few short years later they began timpani and the classic Black Beauty Snare Drum production. To this day the Black Beauty is still in production and is the most sought after snare drum sound in the recording industry. The Leedy Drum company breached out from Ludwig and both defined and refined the American drum sound.
