do they sound great? yes. nice bright tone, quite a bit louder than traditional hardwood claves. it actually shocked me how loud and cutting they are. they sound a little synthetic as to be expected, but youre not buying these to be traditional. my issue: they are made of fiberglass, and if the edges get damaged, you WILL get fiberglass splinters. so i can't recommend these for environments where these will receive heavy use or get banged around a lot. (schools, im looking at you)

I wasn't sure if this set of claves would be too loud for a church setting: It wasn't. I was able to change my grip in order to control the sound, but as it turns out, after repeated use, the sound produced from the instrument was not intrusive. Good results; pleasant sound; other musicians were not offended: Both acoustic guitars and singers.

I originally bought a pair of these for my classroom, and they sounded so well that I ended up buying a pair for myself. Like the description says, they are excellent at cutting through sound. Great for live rock band or marching band situations!
