Fine Instrument, Terrible Price

Seriously, who on Earth is going to pay $6,209 for this thing?? Especially when there are perfectly fine vibraphones on Weiss for $3,500-4,000. I bought mine in 2007 when they were "only" $4,200. I don't believe the instrument has been upgraded since then, certainly not to the extent that would justify a 50% price increase. To be sure, the M55g sounds great and is quite portable, but it is not any better than a YV-2700. The Adams VCSV30M is even cheaper, and although the Adams doesn't sound as good as Musser or Yamaha, it will get the job done.

We ended up deciding at the last minute on buying this item for my son for Christmas. After doing research, I decided the M55G would be the best choice as it had the right combination of great sound and portability according to the reviews . Steve Weiss was the only provider that had the item in stock (instead of a 4 - 6 week lead time elsewhere), great prices, and helpful service. They made a somewhat risky decision much, much easier. A few days after placing the order, we paniced because we weren't sure if mallets were included (they were), so we also rushed an order for mallets that got here in time as well. Highly recommended!!
