Well made, lower-toned wood block. I much prefer the wood over the plastic blocks and when used for Oldies and retro stuff, gives, IMHO, a more authentic sound. I own this one and will soon acquire a medium block from Pearl; no complaints. Buy with confidence. Pearl's bass drum rim mount is superb, too. Enjoy!
