This stand reminds me of the 100 year-old timpani pedals on all Ludwig drums. Outdated, has mechanical issues, and never get fixed. I have tried everything to keep this thing upright. The tilting plates suck, do not hold and strip out often. Replace odd rubber bands practically every year too. Not a fan!

I have used this bass drum with the stand for several years now, and the bolts do strip out after a short time. I think it's the youth symphony that breaks the drum stand that I use, but I am in charge of getting it fixed, and it seems like you can't just buy the bolt. After reading a few other reviews, it seems like this stand should come with at least 10 replacement bolts, because you will need them over the life the drum. I'm going to have to rig something up from the local hardware store, because once the bolts strip out, the drum tries to rotate horizontally and is impossible to use.

Ludwig bass drum stands

Comments:

The concert bass drum stand has good intentions but falls short of being good. The handles on both end of the stand strip out and you have to replace the whole bar. I know several other schools around me that are also unhappy. A higher grade bolt would fix most of the problem. Also make it easy to just change the bolt when it strips out. The top bar makes the drum top heavy and if students aren't careful, the drum will tilt and usually crash into something else. The Yamaha drum stand is much better but costs more. I do like the sound of the Ludgwig Bass Drum but the stand would keep me from buying again.
