Composer Ricardo Lorenz's "Puente Trans-Arabico" can be described as his attempt to translate Tito Puente's Latin style into performance practices associated with Middle Eastern percussion instruments. By combining the dumbek and rik (Egyptian instruments) and the boudhran (an Irish frame drum), this piece combines the elements of Western and Arabic music into a very diverse and complex work. Written for string quartet and percussion solo. Performance time: approx. 11 min.
