Gibraltar Snare Batter Side Die Cast Hoops

Very well made. Almost perfectly flat on a granite surface plate, and tuned up perfectly. However, I did not care for the sound. Both snares COB and maple I tried them on sounded a bit choked to me.

This is a very good quality hoop. It is free of warping, has a very good chrome finish, and appears free of any defect. It is good and heavy to give a very focused sound. I am very pleased with it.

I had a nice Pearl snare albeit an inexpensive one. It has a decent enough shell, so part of my improvement plan along with adding good heads (in my case an Evans Genera Dry) was to put some good hoops on. Steve Weiss & Gibraltar did the trick, I've got a great sounding almost custom snare. Plus GREAT Steve Weiss service. I'm happy :)
