Pastor-Bagatelles-V - Product Information
Bagatelles by Joseph Pastor is compromised of 2 separate bagatelles for solo vibraphone. They may be performed together or separately as needed. Each of the pieces contains opportunities for the player to be expressive and they offer ad lib moments that allow the player to really make the piece their own.
In the past several years Joe's compositions have been performed by the ensembles at Webster University, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Missouri, and Southern Illinois University as well as in a handful of high school programs. Joe Pastor's ideal in composition is to write contemporary music containing original thought while managing not to alienate the listener. This doesn't mean to dumb down the music, just to write things that regular people can grasp. Influences are drawn not just from the greats of the past, but also from recent composers such as Krystov Penderecki, Gordon Stout, Joseph Schwantner, Steven Mackey, Alberto Ginastera and Bela Bartok, to name a few.
