Daughtrey (arr.)-Celtic Xylophone bk. 1 (SP)-X/PN Red. - Product Information

The Celtic Xylophone (Book 1) is the first book in this series of Irish arrangements for solo xylophone and piano (reduction of original marimba trio). There is enough stylistic variety in the collection of three works that they may be performed as a set or separately. It features arrangements of the ever-popular "Irish Washerwoman" and "Londonderry Air" ("Danny Boy") and a lesser-known work, "The Absent-Minded Woman." Each represents a different type of Irish tune - the jig, ballad, and reel - respectively. The arrangements are meant to be virtuosic showpieces for the xylophone and will work perfectly on solo recitals and percussion ensemble concerts.

  • Nathan Daughtrey (b. 1975) earned a Bachelor Degree in Music Education (1997), a Master of Music in Percussion Performance (1999) and a Doctor of Musical Arts (2004) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Described as "fresh and imaginative," (Percussive Notes), his band and percussion works are quickly gaining international recognition with performances at educational institutions of all levels, festivals/contests, and music conferences around the world. Many of his original works and arrangements are becoming standards in the repertoire, including "Limerick Daydreams" for percussion ensemble or symphonic band, "Shock Factor" for percussion quintet, and "Strange Dreams" for clarinet/alto saxophone and marimba.
