    Pretty Cool yet Very Challenging

    Comments:

I've searched around and found not one recording of this piece so me and my euphonium player had come up with our own interpretation of the music. This piece is challenging for both players. The first movement feels very quick when you put it all together. To achieve the tempo, both players need to be light and bouncy. In the middle of the first movement the euphonium player needs to be anticipating the entrances seeing as the percussionist just keeps moving along with his/her moving part. As a percussionist, I would say that the second movement is the most challenging movement out of all three movements. There are some sources that says you can play the second movement with two people but I had to play it by myself. Being an only percussionist in the second movement makes it very challenging. The third movement is fairly tricky to line up with both parts. All in all this piece grows on you and it is a pretty fun piece to play with your buddy on the opposite instrument. I am playing this on my Senior Recital and it adds variety to your repertoire.
