International Style Studies for Timpani is a collection of etudes for educational study or recital performance. The book is divided into four categories: Latin, American, Eastern, and South American. Each category presents stylistic concepts from the represented culture. Special instructions and notation are indicated at the beginning of each etude. The studies are notations are indicated at the beginning of each etude. These studies are challenging and offer appealing additions to the solo timpani repertoire.

Alice Gomez has gained international recognition for her Latino and Native American influenced compositions. She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, a city rich in cultural diversity, playing the drums in my father's Latin dance band. As a composer, her goal is to create works that capture the true spirit of ethnicity and communicate it in contemporary musical language. In creating new works, she strives to preserve and promote the traditions of her Hispanic culture, as well as those of the many other cultures that she embraces. percussion with Jack DiIanni, Andrew Reamer, Stanley Leonard, and Michael Burritt while his principal composition teachers include Joseph W. Jenkins, David Stock, and Jay Alan Yim.
