This is an inexpensive guiro that I purchased for the community band that I conduct. As a percussionist, I know what sounds correct. But I also know what young men in a community percussion section can do to instruments. This is a perfect instrument for that situation.

Pitch is a little high, but the quality is good Similar to the "fish" style guiro.

This looks like a giant Tylenol. You can hold it anyway you want, esp with the holes facing down. Use the striker to slide up and down and even tap it loudly. Experiment with fingers over the holes too.
