Along with the Steve Weiss full length drop covers these head protectors are absolutely essential accessories for you expensive timpani. I fashioned some home made head protectors years ago but recently helped a local college with new Evans Strata heads. I noticed that they had no head protector disks (and shallow drop covers) so I donated my old disks and got a new set from Steve Weiss. I couldn't be happier with the new protectors. The size are listed like timpani dimensions but are built like the heads for extended collars (my two middle drums are old warhorses and not extended sizes) so they fit extended collars and work well with the covers. I highly recommend them as an investment in your timpani.

Solid protection for my timpani. Fine wooden top and soft underneath the go easy on the heads. Very fair price, shipped fast and was well protected in shipping as well.
