A. Putnam Michael Crusoe Signature Series Timpani Mallet - Classic Period Staccato - Product Information

The TMC1 Michael Crusoe, Artist Signature Series Classic Period Staccato timpani model features a 1.25″ maple and chamois core wrapped with a high quality, green steam-pressed wool felt. This staccato mallet is well suited for classical and early romantic period repertoire such as Mozart and Beethoven symphonies. With a range in length from 14.75 to 15.25 inches, this model is smaller in scale with a clear and balanced staccato sound.

Bamboo handles are carefully matched for diameters of 1/2″ to 17/32″, as well as a medium weight of 35–45g. Joints are finely sanded for smoothness and carefully placed for premium balance. A wood finish is applied to ensure constant humidity and keep environmental changes from affecting the handle’s stability and strength.

Designed and hand-crafted in the USA.

Michael Crusoe, is Principal Timpanist of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he also serves as principal timpanist of the Seattle Opera Association and has also served as timpanist with the Mostly Mozart Summer Festival Orchestra at Lincoln Center in New York. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Washington, he served as percussion instructor at the Waterloo Music Festival in New Jersey and has taught at Seattle Pacific University and Seattle University. Mr. Crusoe can be heard with the Seattle Symphony on the critically acclaimed Delos label recordings directed by Gerard Schwarz.

AMAZING.

Comments:

i love these mallets alot, they have a flawless staccato attack and they're very light weight and easy to move around the drums. they're bamboo shafts which causes the mallet to be front heavy, which affects the eveness of your rolls. the mallets roll well under short rhythems, not easy to use for longer rolls. i would recommend these to anyone, except those who are buying the mallets for a part in which you just roll the whole time.
