Balter Expression Series Medium Vibraphone Mallets

They are fine mallets, but just harder than I expected. They don't work for me now since I am largely practicing at home and not currently playing with an ensemble.

Someone recommended these mallets to me, and they are very nice, light, and very suitable for fast playing. For me, the sound was a little too bright, with a little too much bite. I like the length of the handles - not too long, not too short. These mallets would be great for vibraphonists who play with very loud bands, and they will really cut through and be heard. I exchanged them for a different Joe Locke model - the Deep Tone model (49R), and I find these much more suitable for my playing. Compared to the Joe Locke Crossovers, the Deep Tone mallets are a little softer, with a more round sound. But they still have enough bite and attack for me. Very satisfied with these. My band is sort of a chamber jazz group with cello, clarinet, violin and other orchestral instruments, so the warmer tone of the Joe Locke Deep Tones is just right.

These are perfect mallets for me. They feel great and they sound great. These are what I have been looking for for awhile now.
